Co-Dependency Healing Therapy

Codependency therapy also referred to as codependency counselling or treatment, is a form of therapy that focuses on helping individuals overcome codependent behaviours, develop healthier relationships, and improve their overall well-being.

Codependency is a psychological condition characterized by an excessive reliance on others for approval, identity, and a sense of self-worth. Codependent individuals often prioritize the needs of others over their own, struggle with boundaries, and have difficulty expressing their own needs and desires.

I work one-on-one with clients to identify and address codependent patterns, develop healthy boundaries, enhance self-awareness, and build self-esteem and self-reliance. I provide support, guidance, and practical strategies to help clients break free from codependent dynamics and foster healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Some common areas of focus in the treatment plan include:

Identifying Codependent Behaviors

The first step in codependency therapy is often to help individuals recognize and understand their codependent behaviors. This can include patterns of enabling, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, low self-esteem, and a tendency to prioritize others' needs over their own.

Exploring Underlying Factors

Codependency therapy delves into the underlying factors that contribute to codependent behaviors, such as childhood experiences, trauma, attachment issues, family dynamics, and societal influences. Understanding these root causes can help individuals make sense of their patterns and work towards healing.

Developing Self-Awareness

Codependency therapy aims to increase self-awareness and insight into one's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through techniques such as mindfulness, introspection, and reflection, individuals can gain a better understanding of themselves and their relationship dynamics.

Building Self-Esteem and Self-Worth

Codependency therapy helps individuals enhance their self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence. I use cognitive-behavioral techniques, positive affirmations, and self-care practices to boost clients' sense of self and improve their self-image.

Setting Healthy Boundaries

I will assist individuals in setting and maintaining healthy boundaries in relationships. This involves learning to say no, asserting one's needs, and establishing clear limits to protect one's emotional and physical well-being.

Improving Communication Skills

Effective communication is essential in overcoming codependency. Codependency therapy often includes teaching individuals assertiveness skills, conflict resolution techniques, and active listening to improve their ability to express themselves and engage in healthy interactions.

Exploring Relationship Patterns

In therapy, individuals explore and reflect on their relationship patterns, attachment styles, and dynamics with others. By examining past relationships and identifying recurring themes, clients can gain insights into their behaviors and make conscious choices for healthier connections in the future.

Overall, my goal as your therapist is to facilitate personal growth and development by helping individuals identify their goals, strengths, and unique talents to become more self-aware, effective and successful in navigating their personal and professional life in a meaningful way.
